WaterMark

Delete your account & data

This page explains how to permanently delete your WaterMark account and the data associated with it. WaterMark is a product of Watermark App LLC.

How to request deletion

You can delete your account in two ways — either is sufficient.

1
In the app (self‑service) Open WaterMark → SettingsYour data & accountDelete account, then confirm. This submits your deletion request; we confirm ownership and permanently erase your account and its data — typically within 30 days, and usually much sooner.
2
By email Send a request from the email address on your account to the address below with the subject “Delete my account.” We verify ownership and complete the deletion.

What is deleted

When your account is deleted, we permanently remove the personal and business data tied to it, including:

What may be retained, and for how long

What data may be retained after account deletion, and why
DataRetentionWhy
Invoices, payments & tax recordsUp to 7 years, then permanently purgedRequired for financial, accounting & tax‑law compliance
Anonymized/aggregated logs with no personal identifiersMay be kept indefinitelySecurity & service integrity; cannot be tied back to you
Encrypted off‑site backup snapshotsUp to 30 days, then automatically prunedDisaster recovery only; snapshots age out on the normal backup cycle and are never used to restore deleted records

Payment card details are handled by our payment processor (Stripe) and are never stored on WaterMark’s servers.

How long deletion takes

Individual records — a customer, photo, or record you remove inside the app — are removed from WaterMark’s live application immediately (see the encrypted‑backup row above for snapshot timing). For an externally stored photo, WaterMark requests deletion from the storage provider at the same time. If that provider is temporarily unavailable, WaterMark retains a deletion-retry record and completes the deletion when that provider recovers; the photo is not shown in WaterMark while that retry is pending. Full account closure (requested either in‑app or by email) submits your request instantly; we then verify ownership and permanently erase your account and its data within 30 days, and usually far sooner. Financial and tax records are kept only as long as the law requires (see the table above), then permanently purged.

Just want to remove some data, not your whole account? You can delete individual customers, photos, and records inside the app at any time, or export a copy of your data first from Settings → Your data & account.
