Create and send an invoice

Build a one-off invoice for any customer, add line items and a tip, and email it with a pay link so they can pay by card online.

Where: Press Ctrl+K and choose Create invoice, or open Money

  1. Press Ctrl+K, type 'create invoice,' and choose the command. If you have no customers yet, WaterMark will tell you to add one first.
  2. Type the customer name or phone in the customer picker and choose the matching account.
  3. Add each line item: a description and a unit price. Add as many lines as you need.
  4. Watch sales tax fill in automatically based on the customer's state (see Set sales tax rates by state).
  5. Optionally add a tip amount, then click Create invoice.
  6. Find the new invoice in the customer's billing (Customer 360) or the invoices list, and click Email to send it with a pay link.
Good to know
  • An invoice must have at least one line item with a description, or it won't save.
  • You can edit an unpaid invoice's line items later, but once any money is collected it locks - that keeps your books honest.
  • Card payments only land in your bank once your company has connected its Stripe payout account. Until then the invoice still sends; the customer just can't pay by card.
