Getting Started
Import your customers from a spreadsheet or old system
You don't have to re-type your book of business. Paste or upload a CSV exported from ServiceTitan, Skimmer, or any spreadsheet, and WaterMark maps the common columns for you. You always see a preview - with duplicates flagged - before anything is saved.
Where: Get-started card -> Import CSV, or Manage -> Import customers (CSV)
- Open the importer from the Get-started card ("Import CSV") or the Manage menu.
- Either click "Choose a .csv file" to upload, or paste your rows into the CSV box. You can grab a "Download CSV template" to see the exact layout.
- Make sure your file has a header row. Only a name column is required; address, phone, price, day, service_frequency (weekly / biweekly / monthly), and active are recognized automatically.
- Click "Preview" to see every row tagged NEW, INACTIVE, or DUP. Duplicates (matched by exact customer name) are skipped, never doubled.
- Check the preview for any unrecognized-column warnings or rows that need a service day, then click "Import" to bring them in.
- Switching systems? After customers, use the Equipment, Water-test history, and Open balances (AR) buttons in the importer to bring the rest over - no QuickBooks required.
Good to know
- Add a service_frequency column (weekly / biweekly / monthly) so each pool keeps its real cadence instead of everyone being billed weekly.
- Customers imported without a service day come in "unscheduled" - assign them a day afterward to put them on a route.
- An active=false row is retained for history, statements, and open balances but does not generate visits or receive marketing. Its saved cadence returns if the office reactivates it.
- On the free Starter plan an import is all-or-nothing and capped; if the file is too big, trim it or upgrade before importing.
