Reports & Growth
Text or email all your customers at once
One message to your whole book: a winter watch notice, a storm check, a season opening. WaterMark shows you exactly how many customers it reaches and its estimated cost BEFORE anything sends, then sends it in the background so you can close the window, and finishes with an honest receipt.
Where: Grow tab (left sidebar) -> Marketing & referrals -> New campaign
- Click Grow in the left sidebar, then click New campaign in the Marketing & referrals panel.
- Choose Text message (SMS) or Email, pick the audience (all customers, lapsed, or members only), and write your message. Start from a template if one fits.
- Click Review and send. Nothing has gone out yet.
- Read the review screen: how many customers this reaches, an estimate of how many text segments that is and how many of them your plan includes this month, and the estimated extra cost if it goes past your included segments (the final charge follows the segment count the carrier verifies, which can be lower or higher).
- Click the send button (it names the recipient count), then confirm the question.
- Watch the progress bar, or close the window and let it finish on its own. The receipt shows how many sent, how many were held for quiet hours, and how many were skipped.
Good to know
- Every text carries the required brand and opt-out line (Reply STOP to opt out), which adds about 50 characters. A message just under the one-segment limit often becomes two segments. The review screen counts text segments, that line included, not characters, the way a toll-free number splits a text. When the provider verifies a lower count, as it can for a text sent from a regular number, you are billed the lower count. The verified count can also be higher, and you are billed that count either way, so the segment counts and the extra cost on the review screen are estimates.
- Anyone whose own local clock is inside quiet hours (9 PM to 8 AM) is HELD, not sent and not dropped, and the text goes out on its own, never before 8 AM their local time (in a state with two time zones, once it is 8 AM in both). If a customer's local time cannot be read, the review screen says so and that text waits in your send queue until you decide. A notice written at 6 AM reaches nobody until then.
- A daily safety breaker holds a company's texts past 10,000 in one of its calendar days: they are HELD, never dropped, and go out on their own after 8 AM the next morning, in each customer's own time zone.
- Customers who texted STOP, who have Do not text set, or who opted out of marketing are never contacted, and they are counted apart from failures so a receipt never blames a delivery problem that did not happen.
- Use {{first_name}} and {{company}} anywhere in the message and every copy is personalized automatically.
- One campaign sends at a time per company. If you reload or click twice, WaterMark attaches you to the campaign already running instead of texting your book a second time.
