Track lead-source ROI and cost per customer (CAC)

The Lead-Source ROI panel shows which marketing channel actually pays: leads, how many became customers, the revenue they brought, and once you record your ad spend, your cost per acquisition (CAC) and return (ROI). It is how you decide where to put next month's marketing dollars.

Where: Grow tab (left sidebar) -> Lead-Source ROI & CAC panel

  1. Click Grow in the left sidebar and scroll to Lead-Source ROI & CAC.
  2. Set the window with the dropdown (last 3, 6, 12, or 24 months).
  3. In the small form, type a Source (for example google), pick the month, enter the dollars you spent, and click Record spend.
  4. Watch the table fill in CAC (spend divided by customers won) and ROI (revenue minus spend, over spend) for that source.
  5. Compare sources: a green ROI means that channel is paying for itself; red means it's costing more than it returns.
  6. Open Manage, choose Leads, and under New lead enter the channel in the Source field before you click Add lead.
Good to know
  • CAC and ROI stay as a dash until you record spend for that source -- the numbers won't guess.
  • Attributed revenue is the lifetime paid invoices from customers that source brought in, so a channel can look better over a longer window.
