Team & Payroll
Set each tech's pay: hourly, commission, per-job, or track-only
Per-tech pay setup tells WaterMark how to compute each person's earnings on a payroll run. Most pool companies pay hourly; commission is optional and set per tech. You also decide here whether hourly overtime follows the federal FLSA rule.
Where: Manage (gear icon) -> Setup -> Company settings -> "Crew pay & pricing"
- Open Manage -> Setup -> Company settings and scroll to "Crew pay & pricing."
- Set the company Commission basis default: Revenue (% of collected dollars) or Profit (service dollars plus parts margin).
- Leave "Weekly overtime for hourly techs (FLSA)" ON unless your crew is 1099/day-rate - it pays time-and-a-half past 40 hours in a Mon-Sun week.
- Under "Per-tech pay setup," choose each tech's Pay type: Hourly, Track hours only, Per job, or Commission.
- Fill in the Rate ($/hr or /job), and for commission techs a Service % and/or Parts %; set Basis to inherit the company default or override it.
- Click Save on that tech's row - it saves immediately and re-loads to show the stored values.
Good to know
- "Track hours only" records hours but computes no pay - use it when you run payroll in another system and just want WaterMark's clocked hours.
- On a Profit basis, the parts portion pays on margin (price minus cost), not the full part price.
- If a job is worked by a crew, the "Split pay across a job's crew" toggle in the same section decides whether pay is shared by each member's share or the lead keeps it all.
